270 days of Covid lockdowns didn't just disrupt the businesses I had built. It ended them. That forced a question I couldn't avoid: what is a business, in the world that's actually coming?
Two Breaks, One Question
I started looking for the answer in a new paradigm: no-code and low-code tools that let a small team build what used to take an engineering department. I was deep in learning that world when ChatGPT arrived and rewrote the paradigm again, mid-lesson. Suddenly the question wasn't just "how do I build without a dev team." It was "what does building even mean now?"
I'm Not the Only One Asking This
There are a lot of us: people who built careers and businesses under one set of rules, watching everything we knew get turned on its head. If you're in that group, especially if you're past 40 and wondering whether decades of experience is now an asset or a liability, I want to be direct: it's still an asset. It just needs a new architecture to run on.
Success-Modelling the Old Against the New
Since then, I've been deep in what's actually possible now, without throwing out everything that came before. I spent that time success-modelling the parts of the old playbook that still hold against the new paradigm, testing them against what's actually changed rather than assuming either "none of it matters anymore" or "none of it needs to change." What survived that process became the 8 Priorities, and V1 Scale, the venture-building ecosystem I run today.
What I Do With It Now
I'm not ahead of you looking back at a finished journey. I'm still building, and I'll show you exactly how, right alongside you. As a Venture Creator, I help operators, founders, and venture partners run that same test, old against new, faster than they'd run it alone. Whether you're starting or scaling a venture, transforming an existing business from the old model to the new one, or looking to partner on what's being built at the front edge of this shift, that's the work.
